ANC releases book on life and contribution of its founder Late G M Shah

Srinagar, Nov 4 (KMW): The Awami National Conference (ANC) today released a special number (in the form of a book) on former Chief Minister Late Ghulam Muhammad Shah and the founder of the party. The book release function was held at SKICC Srinagar. The book contains excerpts and highlights the life and contribution of Late Shah.

The function was thronged by prominent people from all walks of life ranging from politics to business to civil society including Dr. Mustafa Kamal National Conference legislator and brother of ANC president, Prof. Bhim Singh (patron Panthers party), Er. Rashid (MLA Langate and patron Awami Ittihad Party), Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri (Member of Parliament), G.S. Charak (congress legislator and patron Dograh Sangharsh Sabha), Dr. Syed Nazir Gilani (Sec. Gen JKCHR), Justice Bashir Ahmad (former Chief Justice), family members of Late GM Shah and many other prominent personalities.. The event was presided over by ANC president Begum Khalida Shah and chief guest of the event Dr. Mustafa Kamal.

The speakers at the event highlighted the high moral character, apt statesmanship, pioneered administration, shrewdness and political acumen of Late Gh Mohammad Shah.

Paying glowing tributes to Late G M Shah the chief guest of the event Dr Mustafa Kamal said that he (G M Shah) was a pivotal and important soldier of Late Shiekh Muhammad Abdullah’s squad who always stood by him like a rock through thick and thin and suffered equally as did late Sher-e-Kashmir including the imprisonment.

He further stated that it was high time for them to realize the nefarious designs of their enemies who divided them in the past and continued to keep the gulf between them alive. He further stated that their goals were not against each other but in the same direction that was towards the welfare of the people and stressed that both ANC and NC should atleast unite ideologically if not in deeds.

On the same lines, president ANC Begum Khalida Shah highlighted the high moral and political character of the late stalwart GM Shah and said that it was high time that the past was looked over and future concentrated upon for the betterment of people of the state. She further maintained that ANC would always shoulder and strive to carry forth Late G M Shah’s agenda of welfare, development and resolution of the Kashmir issue, which he had learnt from his leader and mentor Sher-e-Kashmir Shiekh Muhammad Abdullah.

ANC Senior Vice-president, Muzaffar Shah while paying a heartfelt welcome to the audience and guests recollected some of the incidents of Late Shah’s life depicting his selflessness, honesty, sincerity, professionalism, dedication and care for the society and people. He further stated that the book on GM Shah besides his services contained an important autonomy document that he had prepared and presented to Shiekh Muhammad Abdullah days before he breathed his last. He vouched that ANC would continue to strive and play its role to restore Jammu and Kashmir to the status of Paradise again.

The other speakers including Prof. Bhim Singh, G.S. Charak, G N Ratanpuri, Er. Rashid, Dr. Nazir Gilani, M S Simnani while eulogizing the great leader and his contributions to the state and its people applauded and endorsed his concept intra-Kashmir dialogue process and promised of all the cooperation, support and help make such a people’s assembly a success not just one time but multiple times as they all showed their belief in the thought of GM Shah that such was the best way to iron out differences and arrive at a common agenda and conclusion to be worked upon then on.

On this occasion, Er Shiekh Abdul Rashid, MLA Langate said that people of Kashmir need leaders like late G M Shah and Abdul Ghani Lone at this point of time. “Late Shah would always propagate principles of equality, justice and fair play. NC harps about Autonomy, but India is not serious. NC should have broadened scope of its political roadmap so that it would achieved at least Autonomy.”

Prof Bhim Singh sought a heart to heart conference on Kashmir issue, saying that he will facilitate such a conference in which people from across the border will participate, said Kashmir Media Watch correspondent.

Gulchain Singh Charak former minister and senior Congress leader said Late Shah was a great leader. “We should rise above politics and reach out to come conclusion to get our people out from the prevailing mess,” he said, according to Kashmir Media Watch correspondent.
