Srinagar, Jan 6 (KMW): Today the 5th death anniversary of former Chief Minister of the State of J&K and founder JK Awami National Conference (ANC), Late Khwaja G.M Shah was observed with great fervor and zeal across the state.
According to a statement issued to KMW, in this regard a number of prayer meetings and gatherings to pay tribute and homage to the great soul and stalwart leader were observed at various places in both Jammu and Kashmir Province.
The biggest prayer meet of the kind was observed at the ancestral graveyard of the great leader wherein apart from Qur’anic verses, floral tributes were also offered to the late leader. This was followed by congregational prayers for the stalwart leader during the day. The congregation was attended by provincial and district-heads of ANC, party workers from the entire length and breadth of the valley apart from relatives and prominent citizens of the state.
Speaking to the media persons on the occasion, senior Vice-president of ANC and son of Late G.M.Shah said that ANC was the first party of the state that had started a crusade against corruption and misgovernance by giving a detailed account of the personal assets and properties of the main leaders of their party. He further maintained that the time had come when people had held up high on agenda to give power and representation to only those whose track-record was pro-people and without any blots or black spots. The people had started a revolutionary wave to rid the state of corruption, nepotism, self-enrichment and misgovernance. Answering a question from the media Mr. Shah maintained that ANC since its inception had strived and toiled for a peaceful and amicable solution of the Kashmir issue and it was in that regard only that the party had always toiled to hold Intra-Kashmir dialogue to iron out issues and come to common agendas of resolution.
It was followed by similar kind of gathering and prayer meeting at the party headquarters later in the day where the party leaders threw light on the principles, character and life of the leader and paid rich tributes to him.
Paying rich tributes to late G.M.Shah, ANC senior Vice-President Mr. Muzaffar Shah said that the observance of the death anniversary of the late Leader with such fervor and zeal across the length and breadth of the state reflected the struggle he had done for the betterment of state and its people in particular, be it as a comrade of Sher-e-Kashmir against the autocratic rule or as a minister in his government or as the Chief Minister of the State.
Mr. Shah further maintained that if we had to free our state from the curse of corruption, nepotism and misgovernance, if we had to free up our innocent people from the bars of jails, if we had get our unemployed youth into jobs and if we needed our state to progress and prosper we needed to explore and adopt the path of economic as well politico-administrative vision given by the Late Stalwart leader G.M.Shah.
Mr. Shah further maintained that the youth of the state needed to take steps of cooperation and collaboration to help the party bring back the golden era of J&k state which was devoid of corruption, mis-governance and woes of people, as was introduced by Late G.M Shah during his tenure as the CM of the state. Speaking on the occasion other party leaders too highlighted the stature of the great leader, paid their rich tributes to him and said that the current dispensation of coalition in the state had badly failed to mitigate the problems and woes of the people.
The meet was attended by all the office bearers and many party-men, prominent among them were Mir Ghulam Rasool (Provincial President), Iftikhar Ahmad Banday (Vice President), Khwaja Din Mohd wani (Provincial Vice President), Haji Peer Nazir Ahmad (District President Srinagar), Sajad Ahmad Dar (District President Pulwama), Zonal President Baramulla, Malik Bashir Ahmad (Zonal President Islamabad) and Mr. Reyaz Ahmad (Provincial Secretary).
