Srinagar, January 16: Heavy to light snowfall in different parts of Kashmir valley brought life to a grinding halt.
Due to bad weather, Poor visibility, all flights were cancelled till further orders, said an official.
Parts of Kashmir valley receives fresh snowfall.
Air travellers has the toughest time as due to flights cancellation they faced difficult as the different flight companies were asking them to pay higher charges for their cancelled flights which were rescheduled to next date which is clear cut violation of the rules.
A flight passenger while talking to the Kashmir Media Watch stated :”I had a flight to New Delhi and Bangalore as you know due to snowfall flights got cancelled but my airline is rescheduling my flight to next date only after paying more heavy charges otherwise saying we will just refund. This is gross violation of given rules and regulations. ”
Meanwhile weather officials have predicted heavy snowfall in coming days.
MeT officials said that heavy snowfall will hit parts of Kashmir that will likely disrupt air and surface traffic to and from the Kashmir Valley.
They said that a comparatively intense western disturbance is becoming active over Jammu and Kashmir from January 19 and will remain till January 23, peaking on January 22.
The MeT officials said that under its influence moderate to heavy snowfall is likely to occur in the valley during this period.
