Agriculture Department Kargil organizes awareness camp under Soil Health and Fertility Scheme

Kargil, February, 09, 2025: Agriculture Department Kargil Saturday organized one day in-service training/ awareness camp under Soil Health and Fertility Scheme at Farmer’s Conference Hall Baroo.

Executive Councilor Agriculture, Aga Sayeed Mujtaba Mossavi was the chief guest on the occasion. Chief Horticulture Officer Ali Raza, Senior Scientist KVK-1, Dr Nasreen Fatima, Deputy Director Command Area Development, Mohd Iqbal and Dr. Kousar Fatima from School of Agriculture UOL attended the training camp as a resourse persons from allied department.

Chief Agriculture Officer, Ashiq Hussain Basharat, Subject Matter Specialist (SDL), Razia Banoo and Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Mohd Hussain were other speakers were eon the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Executive Councilor Syed Mujtaba appreciated the department for organizing such training programs for its employees, which will enhance the knowledge and skills of ground-level workers who are directly connected to farmers.

He praised the Chief Agriculture Officer for involving experts from allied departments, recognizing that farmers engage in diverse activities like livestock, poultry, horticulture, and fisheries. With its extensive village reach, the Agriculture Department can effectively guide farmers in enhancing their economic conditions through various enterprises.

He urged the department to frame proper guidelines for LAHDC subsidy schemes in consultation with LAHDC Kargil to ensure that the benefits reach the deserving beneficiaries.

He further suggested the department to organise awareness camps in every village so that the farmers became aware of the departmental schemes.

Earlier the Chief Agriculture Officer welcomed the chief guest and other resource persons in the training programe. He informed the chief guest that the department organises such training camps regularly every year to make the field staff aware about departmental schemes, new innovations in agriculture, new threads and challenges in farming, and also to get feedbacks from the ground level workers. To ensure that the departmental schemes are adopted by the farming community.

The resource persons from KVK-I Dr. Nasreen Fatima and Razia Banoo (SMS) demonstrated the detailed techniques of mushroom cultivation its scope, challenges, management of diseases and pests in Mushrooms in context of Kargil district.

Chief Horticulture Officer Kargil, Ali Raza, imparted trainings on Horticulture Department schemes and urged the agriculture field staff that they should also be aware about horticulture crops as the challenges are almost similar for both horticulture and agricultural crops Deputy Director CAD Kargil Mohd Iqbal and Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Mohd Hussain imparted training on sustainable agriculture, soil health managements, soil sample collection techniques and micro irrigation system.
