Agreement between JCC and State Govt. has to be implemented strictly: JCC

SRINAGAR: Joint Consultative Committee leader and Employees Joint Action Committee (Q) president Abdul Qayoom Wani meeting in Srinagar said that the agreements with state Govt. regarding various demands like enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60, regularization of Contractual, Ad hoc and contingent paid employees, various Issues of ReT’s, EV’s like enhancement of age and other demands made was the product of the struggle and sacrifices of 4.5 lakh employees and their leaders over the past three years.“Our battle forced the government to revisit the roadmap of the payment of 50 percent arrears and conceded them to release our 100 percent arrears including 20 percent arrears in the present financial year and it is out biggest victory,” he said.

Wani said decisions in the agreement over enhancing retirement age from 58 to 60 years by March 2012 and formulation of policy for the casual and temporary laborers “who were used by politicians for their ends” were other achievements of their struggle.
Pertinently, the agreement says, the committee constituted to look into the demand of increasing retirement age would submit report to cabinet sub-committee by February 2012. They further asked the Government to remove disparities of the clerical cadre and anomalies of different cadres within a specific time frame as per the agreement signed between the JCC and Govt.
The EJAC (Q) president further said that it is time for the employees to promote work culture and root out corruption from the state and hailed media and political parties of the state for lending supporting to their agitation over the past three years and told that they were optimistic that government will implement the agreement in letter and spirit. However, he quickly added that they would “come on the roads again if government violates the agreement.”
Abdul Qayoom wani further said an important meeting in which the representatives and activists of different unions/ organizations/ associations/ federations of three regions, of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh under the umbrella of Joint Consultative Committee will be held on coming Sunday on 18-03-2012 at Jammu to chalk the further strategy for agreed demands.He said if the state government fails to concede the demands within stipulated period, there will be left no other option before the employees but to come on the streets again. “We fully support the pact,” he added.(KMW NEWS)
