ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, 3 days after Afzal Guru was hanged for his alleged role on 2001 Parliament attack on February 9 at 8am in the Tihar Jail complex where he had lived in a solitary cell for many years, the major political party of Pakistan -Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has condemned the hanging of Afzal Guru.
In an exclusive online interaction with Kashmir based journalist Rameez Makhdoomi, Dr Arif Alvi, Secretary General Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf stated-“I think Afzal Guru was hanged wrongly just to satisfy the rabid Indian media and their propaganda influenced Indian population.â€
While divulging the views of party on the Kashmir issue, Dr Arif Alvi stated –“Resolution of Kashmir issue should be done on the basis of UN resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people. We need to Demilitarise Kashmir on both sides of the border. We need to open Kashmir to international media. We would like to state that until final settlement allow increasingly free cross border movements of the Kashmiri people.â€
