Jammu: In view of mercy petition of Afzal Guru, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah today said anybody who attacks India, has to pay the price.
‘I as an Indian feel that anybody who worked against the country, must pay the price,’Dr Abdullah told reporters outside the Legislative Assembly Complex.
‘The mercy petition has been lying with President Pratibha Devisingh Patil. ‘Let us wait for the decision,’ he added and said that anybody, who acts against India, should not be spared.
‘India is a democratic country but one who speaks anti-India, will not be tolerated,’ the Union Minister said.
On Hurriyat leaders ‘anti-India campaign, Dr Abdullah said, ‘they save their skin with doublespeak.’ ‘Separatist leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, all are Indians,” he said and added if one does not consider themselves as citizens of this country then why they are carrying Indian passports.
On People Democratic Party demand of discussing the issue of corruption, he said, ‘PDP President Mehbooba Mufti speaks whatever she likes to. She is eroding her own position.’ Regarding National Conference senior leader and his brother Mustafa Kamaal’s remarks, the Union Minister said, “he must think before speaking. I have already removed him from the post of additional general secretary and as spokesman of National Conference.’ On pandemonium in the Legislative House by the PDP, Dr Abdullah said, ‘it is a democratic set up and democracy means ‘hungama’.’ He, however, said issues can only be resolved through discussions and debates but not by creating ‘halla-gulla’.
