Srinagar, (KMW News): With the dust of the spurious drug scam yet to settle down there is every chance that Kashmir might be caught under another one of its kind. This time the focus shifts to substandard and misbranded food items.

A team of health officials from SMC under Dr. Rubina (Health Officer SMC) today raided a canteen in lower court Srinagar and seized many items for laboratory testing including a brand of soft drinks being offered there which as per her was a pseudo-brand and substandard enough to impact the health of the consumers negatively. The team was as such called on the spot by Mr. Ajaz Ahmad War (Editor-in-chief Kashmir Media Watch) who while consuming the soft drink found foreign materials as well as live insects including maggots from the bottle. On verifying the details, it was found out that the brand was a pseudo one with no manufacturing date on it. The brand as per the bill details had from the canteen owner was delivered by Mohsin Enterprises located in Batamaloo. The dealer as such claims to be the registered dealer and distributer of the Pepsi products which on verification was found out to be otherwise. A case under food safety act was registered against the dealer and a report of fraud and cheating was also filed against the same by Mr. Ajaz Ahmad War in Police Station Maisuma.
