New Delhi: Conceding that the two terror attacks in the last two months were a blot on the nation, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram today said the Government own up full responsibility of the blasts.
Addressing a three-day meet on internal security, Mr Chidambaram accepted that the challenge of terrorism was a “formidable challenge” and that the country was facing multiple-threats from various fronts. However, he said, “No country is immune to terror.” While accepting that “home-grown terror modules are attracted to radical ideology” and that many of these modules had acquired the “means to make bombs”, the Home Minister categorically said, “the epicentre of terror is Afghanistan and Pakistan” and terror outfits like LeT and JeM continue to target India. Accepting the challenges ahead for the security forms, he said capacity building required time, money and harnessing the capacity of security apparatus in the country. Promising “fullest co-operation” to the security forces, he exhorted them to take ownership of the counter-terrorism and counter
insurgency measures.
