Leh, Jan 09: The Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor and Chairman of the Executive Committee for Khelo India Winter Games (KIWG) 2025, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the Conference Hall, UT Secretariat, Leh, to assess the preparations for the upcoming Khelo India Winter Games 2025.

During the meeting, Dr. Stanzin Thakchos, OSD to the Secretary, Youth Services & Sports, delivered a detailed presentation on the event’s preparations. He informed that the second edition of the Khelo India Winter Games will be held in Leh from January 23rd to January 27th, 2025. The opening ceremony is scheduled for January 23rd at the NDS Ice Hockey Stadium at a grand level.

Dr. Thakchos highlighted that around 600 athletes are expected to participate in the event, which will be conducted across three venues. He provided an in-depth overview of the preparations undertaken by various departments to ensure the successful execution of the event. He informed that the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, will grace the opening ceremony of the event. The key sports, including ice hockey and ice skating, will be live telecasted on the DD Sports channel.

Dr. Kotwal directed the concerned officers to ensure the provision of top-notch facilities and emphasized the importance of creating a world-class environment for participants. He commended the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee and various departments involved in the preparations. He also instructed departments to finalize venue preparations, branding, catering, and other logistical support ahead of the event.

The meeting was attended by Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal, DGP Ladakh; Vikram Singh Malik, Secretary, Youth Services & Sports; Micheal D’Souza, Secretary GAD; Bhanu Prabha, Secretary, Education; Santosh Sukhadeve, Deputy Commissioner, Leh; Shruti Arora, SSP Leh, along with directors, other concerned officers, and members of the Executive Committee for KIWG UT Ladakh.
