Advisor Dr. Kotwal approves Project Implementation Plan under PMFME for FY 2025-26

Leh, Feb 07, 2025: A meeting of the State Level Approval Committee (SLAC) and District Level Committee (DLC) for the implementation of the Prime Minister Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme was held at the VC Hall, Ground Floor, Civil Secretariat, Ladakh, under the chairmanship of Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Advisor to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, UT Ladakh.

The meeting commenced with a presentation by the Director of Industries and Commerce, Ladakh, on the Project Implementation Plan (PIP) of the PMFME Scheme. Discussions focused on the scheme’s objectives, support for micro-enterprises, SHGs, FPOs, and cooperatives, as well as key initiatives like seed capital assistance, common infrastructure development, incubation centres, and branding and marketing support.

A review of the approved PIP, budget allocation, and expenditure for the financial years 2022-2025 was conducted, alongside discussions on the proposed implementation and budget plan for FY 2025-26. The committee also examined strategies for promotional activities to enhance awareness and participation in the scheme.

During the meeting, Advisor Dr. Pawan Kotwal strongly emphasized the need for standardized facilities and well-equipped testing labs to ensure high-quality production in the micro food processing sector. He directed officials to give their full support to the people to ensure the possible assistance should be provided from the various central sponsored schemes.

He further stressed that every decision, initiative, and action must focus on the welfare of society and the betterment of common people. The SLAC Committee headed by Advisor to Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor/Chief Secretary UT of Ladakh approved the Project Implementation Plan for FY 2025-26 and the department was advised to forward the approved Action Plan to the Ministry of Food Processing Industry for consideration and approval.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce Department, Sanjeev Khirwar; Administrative Secretary, Agriculture, Bhupesh Chaudhary; Administrative Secretary, of Technical Education Bhanu Prabha; Director of Industries and Commerce Department Mohd Nazir; Director Rural Development Department, Sajjad Qadri; Director Accounts & Treasuries Dr Safdar Ali and Director, Animal Husbandry Dr Mohd Ismail; representatives from NABARD, Banking Finance, Marketing and Branding.
