Jammu: A day after social activist Anna Hazare termed Senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani’s yatra against corruption as a ‘gimmick’, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president and senior Congress leader Saif-ud-din Soz today said his yatra had always ‘divided’ nation.
‘’Mr Advani is a man of repute and as much important as the Prime Minister but BJP is playing to the gallery,’’ Mr Soz told a press conference at party headquarters this morning.
He however, said, ‘’Advani’s yatra has always ‘divided’ the nation and it will not achieve its purpose,’’ adding that India is a mature democracy and it would not affect it.
‘’Mr Advani should also fight for national unity and equally participate in fight against corruption as he has space in both the Houses of Parliament,’’ Mr Soz said adding that the former can fight corruption too but democratically.
‘’The yatra may bruise the nation,’’ Mr Soz said and added that it would not be acceptable to all.
However, reacting on the issue of terrorism, the JKPCC chief said, ‘’Armed militancy is sponsored in Jammu and Kashmir but comparatively Naxalism is a greater threat for the nation.’’ He added that armed militancy is a challenge for the system that has to be fought.
