Leh, February 01, 2026: The Administrative Secretary of the Cooperative Department, UT Ladakh, visited the Tibetan Consume Cooperative Society Leh. On arrival, the Administrative Secretary was warmly welcomed by the President of the Cooperative Society with the traditional khataks. The meeting provided an opportunity for the villagers to present their concerns and suggestions for strengthening cooperative initiatives.

The visit underscored the commitment of the Cooperative Department to strengthen grassroots as the community has a special tradition and need to strengthen their culture and tradition and work to preserve the culture by working on in the field of Handicraft, Handloom, and other sector related to the tradition.

The Administrative Secretary urged to revive the carpet factory which was first established in 1971 and is not functioning since many years due to the lake of management and increasing labour cost issues, on this regards he urged to avail he government sachems like to take the financial help from NCDC etc.

He directed to update the memberships of the society which is currently 2038 in number.He further directed to allow to work as MPCS and provide the LPC dealer agency and provide the subsidy if available for helpful in managing in some areas.

He urged to bring this society in e-PACS so that they can update their work more professionally .

Society has requested for a mini truck for the society to transport the consume goods supply to society branches in the border ares of changthang region.

Later, he also visited Dairy Cooperative Society, Chuchot Yokma

He was welcome by the village head and put the issues related to dairy. 

The main issue raised by the villagers that this season has rain in large number and all he fodders were damaged so they didn’t got any related from any government department and requested o provide the same.

He ask the department to make any society or CMS Leh to procure the fodder in future and supply to the villagers.

He further stressed that all the daity societies should link with the NDDB so that members get all the facilitiews and tey didn’t need to worry about the sale of the milk produced. He ured to call a meeting with all the soiety and NDDB to link on an urgent basis.  

The Administrative Secretary was accompanied by the Ms. Huma Khan (JKAS) Deputy Registrar Leh, Sh. Nawang Tsering ARC Leh, and Sh. Tashi Gyaltsan Inspector Leh.
