Srinagar , March 17: An ‘accidental’ fire claimed the life of a Jammu Kashmir Bank Security Guard in old Srinagar city, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred outside ATM located near Islamia College Hawal. Police said that after taking their meals, two security guards were busy in face to face conversation when the rifle of a security guard Muhammad Altaf Lala son of Ghulam Ali, a resident of Saidpora, Eidgah accidently went off and a bullet hit him on the lower part of the neck. The security guard succumbed at SKIMS shortly after his arrival there.
“Prima facie it appears that it was an accidental fire. Yet we have called his companion to police station for questioning. Investigation has been going on to ascertain the facts,†a police official from Nowhatta police station told CNS.
