9 persons injured in twin Pulwama grenade blasts

Srinagar: At least nine persons including two paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were injured in two separate grenade blasts in Pulwama district of south Kahsmir on Tuesday.
Official sources told KMW that some unknown persons tossed a hand grenade at a mobile bunker of CRPF 182 Battalion near an ATM in Rajpora area of Pulwama district this afternoon.
The grenade exploded with a bang, causing injuries to at least seven people including two paramilitary troopers identified as head constable Anil Kumar and Constable Manoj Kumar. The injured were rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment.
The blast triggered panic in the main town as shopkeepers downed their shutters while the pedestrians were seen running helter-skelter for safety.
The five civilians have been identified as Zubaida wife of Saif-u-din of Daramdara Pulwama, Pervaiz Ahmad son of Ghulam Mohammad of Srinagar, Mehraj-din son of Ghulam Nabi of Payeen Pulwama, Mohammad Shafiq son of Ghulam Mohammad of Bemina-Srinagar and Mohammad Yousuf Mir son of Abdullah Mir of Maspuna Pulwama. While all the injured were admitted in local hospital, one of them,
Mohammad Yousuf Mir was later referred to Bones and Joints Hospital here for specialized treatment.
In another grenade blast at around 1800 hours this evening, officials said, a forest officer, identified as Fayaz Ahmad and Gulzar Ahmad Bhat was injured near Kakapora checkpost. A medical shop belonging to Majeed Ahmad and Maruti car (JK13A-5286) suffered damage in the blast, they added.
A police official here said that a case has been registered and further investigations take up to nab the attackers. When reports last came in, there was no information about arrest of any person in connection with the blast.
