68th Independence Day Celebrated at Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi

New Delhi, August 14: The 68th Independence Day was celebrated with traditional enthusiasm and national spirit at Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi.

The day started with morning prayers at the Pakistan High Commission’s mosque for the prosperity of the country and well being of the nation.
An impressive flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Chancery’s lush green lawns. Mr. Abdul Basit , High Commissioner of Pakistan raised the Pakistani flag to the tune of national anthem. Simultaneously, Pakistan High Commission’s School children recited and performed on the national anthem.
Abdul Basit, High Commissioner of Pakistan congratulated the nation on the Independence Day and underscored the importance of freedom. He emphasized that we should value and respect the sacrifices made by our national heroes who devoted their lives for creating Pakistan as an independent and sovereign state. He expressed confidence in the nation saying that every Pakistani is determined to hold high the national flag.
Students of the Pakistani School presented a special program of national songs and tableau. Essay competition on “My vision for Pakistan” was also held at the Pakistan High Commission’s School level. Ms. Summiyah Basit, wife of the High Commissioner, distributed prizes and gifts amongst the participating children and winners of the essay Competition.
Mr. Mansoor A Khan, Deputy High Commissioner read out messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan and Mr. Manzoor Ali Memon, Press Counsellor conducted the ceremony.
A large number of officers, staff and their families and media persons attended the event.
