Agartala, Feb 10  Trinamool Congress All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on
Friday accused BJP of pulling down Tripura for 50 years in it’s five years of undemocratic, and
corrupt governance.
Tripura under BJP’s rule has no good healthcare facility, educational institution and infrastructure – rather dependency on other states increased in manifolds, Banerjee stated.
He addressed two rallies seeking votes for Trinamool Congress candidates in Kamalpur of Dhalai district and Kadamtala of North Tripura.
Abhishek appealed voters to press EVM against BJP candidates, as it cheated people for five years, and snatched away the democratic rights.
“The loss of Tripura during five years of BJP was more than the 25 yrs rule of communists. The BJP does politics with caste, religion and communal sentiments to divide the society for their political gain. None of the BJP ruled states including Tripura think even of the welfare schemes implemented by Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal,” Abhishek observed.
He said people of Tripura need the TMC government where Swastha Sathi, Kanya Sri, Laxmi Bhandar, students’ credit card like facilities of West Bengal would be extended.
BJP came to power in 2018 with false promises of development and afterwards when people started questioning on flouting the poll-promises they resorted to violence and attacks, Abhishek stated.
“No political party other than BJP was allowed to hold any political programme, people were facing fascist attack from the government when they wrote something adverse on governance, media people were attacked and newspaper offices were set on fire for criticising the failure of former
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb,” he mentioned.
Trinamool Congress had to come from West Bengal before urban local bodies’ election in 20121 when no other party was allowed to hold their political programmes and stand besides the peoples’ sufferings, Abhishek said and added, “Our leaders and MPs were attacked in front of police by BJP goons. I was attacked on my first visit and our leaders were put behind the bars on false cases, but we didn’t step back.”
He claimed that TMC’s entry into Tripura had exposed all corruption of the then Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, which compelled BJP to change the CM and other parties like CPI-M and Congress got courage to begin their activities.
Banerjee alleged that BJP cadres and leaders have already launched door to door drives for buying votes and intimidating the opposition voters and advised, “I request you all if BJP go with cash please accept it and bargain for more amount but not vote for them. They will torture you and interfere with your daily life for next five years if they succeed. The cash which they are offering today is your money. Illegally, they earned it from your development project. Take money but do not vote for BJP.”
