5-day Bridge Course Program launched at Sankoo Campus, GDC Kargil under PM USHA Scheme

Kargil, April 25: Sankoo Campus, Government Degree College Kargil, today launched the five-day Bridge Course Program 2025 under the aegis of the PM USHA Scheme at the Prefab Hall of Science Block.

The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Mehboob Ali, In-charge Administration, University of Ladakh, as the chief guest and Mohd Tahir, Principal In-charge of ASHRM Higher Secondary School, Sankoo, as the guest of honour.

The program commenced with the formal welcome of the esteemed guests with the traditional khataqs presented by Prof. (Dr.) Saleem Ahmad, Nodal Officer, Sankoo Campus.

Dr. Azra Khatoon, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Sankoo Campus, delivered the inauguration speech and highlighted the objectives of the Bridge Course Program.

Dr Saleem Ahmad addressed the audience on understanding the college system, support and success. Mohd Tahir shared his valuable words with the participants and encouraged them to make the most of the program. 

Dr Mehboob Ali addressed the audience with his words of wisdom and enlightened them on the New Education Policy-2020 and how such programs can bridge the gap between previous knowledge system and the important academic factors in higher education. 

The first session of the Bridge Course was conducted by Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Ladakh, who delivered a hands-on training session on ‘Digital Skills’.

The resource person educated the participants on the distinction between digital and technological concepts, provided knowledge on basic digital skills, and discussed the use of social media for business.

The session also covered fundamental aspects of internet etiquette (netiquette), privacy settings, phishing and email scams, and computer security. It concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session.

Tsering Angmo, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, and Dr. Syed Yaseen, Department of Economics, Sankoo Campus, conducted the next session titled ‘Open Mic’. The session featured engaging activities designed to help participants open up, foster camaraderie and share their past experiences as well as expectations for the future.

A total of 100 students registered for the program. Feedback forms were distributed and collected from the participants. Dr Azra Khatoon, moderated the program and presented the vote of thanks.
