3 militants including divisional commander Hizb killed in encounter in Tral

Srinagar, June 19 (KMW): Three militants including divisional commander of Hizbul Mujahideen were killed in a fierce gun battle at Buchoo Tral on Thursday.

Reports reaching KMW said that the gun battle started between militants and the security forces at around 6 pm at Buchoo around 10 Kilometres from Tral town. On a tip off the security forces including 3RR, SOG Awantipora, CRPF and police had laid ambush on a road connecting Buchoo with Amlar village. A senior police officer said that the militants while crossing the road spotted security forces on the road and fired upon them. In retaliatory fire all three militants, reported to be locals were killed on the spot. The cordon is still on and the security forces have started search operations to sanitize the area.
A police spokesman identified the three militants as Adil Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Ahad Shah Resident of Ratsuna Tral, Adil Ahmad Mir son of Bashir Ahmad Mir resident of Dadsura Tral and Tariq Ahmad Parray son of Ghulam Mohammad Parray resident of Laribal Tral. Shah was the divisional commander of Hizb, said the police spokesman.
Police spokesman said that three slain militants were involved in killing of father and son (Panchayat representatives) and a village numberdar in Tral whose killings took place during the recently held elections campaigning. (KMW)
