New Delhi: The Supreme Court today dismissed the bail application of DMK MP and daughter of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, Kanimozhi, and Kalaignar TV channel MD Sharad Kumar in 2G Spectrum scam.
A vacation bench comprising Justices G S Singhvi and B S Chauhan directed the petitioner to approach the trial court for bail after the charges are framed in the case.
With today’s order, Kanimozhi and Kumar will have to remain in jail at least, till the charges are framed by Special Judge O P Saini.
The petitioners, who are in jail since May 20, approached the apex court after the rejection of their bail pleas by the trial court and Delhi High Court.
The two are facing allegations of receiving Rs 200 crore as bribe from Shahid Balwa, another accused in the case, allegedly at the instance of former Telecom Union Minister A Raja, for allocation of 2G Spectrum licences to the company owned by Balwa.
