20-day basic ice hockey coaching concludes in Zanskar

Kargil, February 09: The 20-day basic ice hockey coaching camp, organized by Zonal Physical Education Department, Zanskar, successfully concluded today.

The closing ceremony witnessed a large audience, including In-charge Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zanskar, Mohd Hassan, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, along with other sub-division officers.

In his welcome address, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Stanzin Lobzang, highlighted the objectives of the coaching camp, emphasizing its role in promoting winter sports and fostering interest in ice hockey among the youth of the region.

Addressing the gathering, the In-charge SDM appreciated the department’s efforts in encouraging ice hockey and skating among children in remote areas. He stressed the importance of such initiatives in preparing young athletes for participation in state and national-level winter sports competitions.

He also expressed gratitude to Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh for designating ice hockey as the State Game of the Union Territory. Furthermore, he urged the Department of Youth Services and Sports to extend similar training programs to other parts of the Zanskar Sub-Division.

During the event, participation certificates and medals were distributed to all participants and position holders by the chief guest, marking a successful conclusion to the coaching program.
