Srinagar, February 22(KMW): 2 unidentified militants were today killed in Sopore town of north Kashmir in a shootout with police and army.
According to a police press note, cordon and search operation, based on a specific tipoff was launched in Warpora area of Sopore jointly by police and security forces.
“As the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the militants. The fire was retaliated leading to a gunfight,” said a police spokesperson.
In the ensuing encounter, 02 militants were killed and the bodies were retrieved without being identified as yet. .
“Incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case and initiated investigation in the matter,” said the police spokesperson.
