Srinagar, Apr 13 (KMW): Militants Sunday carried out an attack on the residence of a National Conference activist in South Kashmir Pulwama district in which two police personnel and two militant were killed.
Meanwhile, in a tele-statement to Kashmir News service, a militant outfit Al-Shohada brigade claimed responsibility of today’s Bapora-Khrew attack. The operational spokesman of the outfit told that it carried out the attack during which two police men and one of their men was killed.
According to the details received by KMW, during Sunday afternoon, militants fired upon the guards at the residence of a political activist at Bapora, Khrew. The police guarding the door reportedly stopped two men from entering into the residence of Yawar Masoodi NC activist at Pulwama. The militants fired indiscriminately upon the police personnel.Two policemen, head constable Abdul Hamid and Constable Vinod Kumar, were injured critically
Soon after the incident, the security forces cordoned off the area. The encounter between the militants and security forces began at Gotran Khrew during which both the militants were killed. The identity of the militants is yet to be ascertained.
The police personnel killed during the Sunday shootout were posted as security guards of Yawur Masudi who is provisional committee member of NC’s youth wing. The reports confirmed that Masoodi was unhurt.
According to a police statement issued to KMW militants fired upon the guards at the residence of a political activist at Bapora, Khrew in the jurisdiction of police station Pampore. In the firing incident, two policemen Head Constable Abdul Hamid and Constable Vinod Kumar were injured who were rushed to nearby hospital; where they succumbed to their injuries. The militants decamped with a SLR rifle from the spot.
“Soon after the incident, the security forces cordoned off the area. The militants were trapped at Gotran Khrew and an encounter followed. In this encounter two militants were killed. Two AK 47 rifles and the snatched SLR rifle was recovered from the encounter site. The identity of the slain militants is being ascertained,†the statement added. (KMW)
