2 dead, 4 hurt in separate road accidents

Srinagar: Two people on Saturday were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in twin districts of Shopian and Srinagar.
Eyewitnesses told KMW two people were killed on the spot while three others were injured when the auto rickshaw (chassis number-065773) they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge near Nagbal, Shopian early this morning. The slain have been identified as Javed Ahmad, son of Mohammad Ismail Bhat and Mohammad Ramzan, son of Ghulam Mohammad Malik, both residents of Chattergam Kalan. Three of the injured identified as Abdul Rashid Naikoo, son of Mohammad Ismail, Khalid Amin Bhat son of Mohammad Amin and Ali Mohammad were shifted to hospital for treatment.
However, a police spokesman said that the accident took place when miscreants were enforcing strike and resorting to stone pelting on civil vehicles in the area.
“The ill fated vehicle was on way to Shopian when it was heavily pelted upon by miscreants at Nagbal and in the likelihood that driver losing his control over the steering and the vehicle turned turtle, which resulted in the on-spot death of two persons,” the police spokesman said, adding “Police immediately reached to the spot and shifted the injured to hospital. Police have taken cognizance of the matter and further investigations are on,”
Meanwhile, a youth was injured when he drove his car into the Dal Lake near Dalgate in this capital city this morning.
City correspondent said that Firdous Ahmad Shora of Shori Mohalla, Gagribal was injured when he lost control over his car (JKO1F-8743) and drove it into the world famous Dal Lake early this morning. Firdous was rescued by the locals from the submerged car and rushed to hospital for treatment. The youth, an employee in the education department was on way to Nishat when the car plunged into the lake.
