1679 pilgrims leave for Amarnath, Buddha Amarnath Shrines

Jammu: A total of 1679 pilgrims today left for the holy cave shrines of Shri Amarnath and Buddha Amarnath situated in South Kashmir of Himalayas and in Poonch district of Jammu region under tight security arrangements.

The pilgrims for Amarnath cave shrine left from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatrai Niwas base camp here.

“A batch of 1033 pilgrims comprising 684 men, 170 women 28 children and 151 sadhus left at around 0515 hrs for the Amarnath in a convoy of 40 vehicles including 31 SRTC buses and nine private Vehicles,” an official spokesman here said.

Meanwhile, 646 pilgrims also left for Buddha Amarnath shrine in a convoy of 16 vehicles amid tight security arrangement.
