16 people buried under debris in Budgam; 6 bodies recovered, rescue operation on:

Srinagar, Mar 30 (KMW): Around 16 members of two families area feared dead in Laden village of Chadoora area on Monday when two residential houses collapsed due to land sinking.

According to the KMW correspondent, families of Ghulam Nabi Hajam and Lal Din Hajam were in a house when the mud slide stuck the house and buried the families. Late in the evening, six bodies were recovered from the debris of the house who were identified as Naseema, Shugufta daughters of Ghulam Nabi, Rukhsana wife of Mohammad Shaban, Mohammad Shaban son of Lal Din Chopan, Mohammad Aslam son of Mohammad Shaban Chopan and Shamema daughter of Lal Din Chopan.
The authorities said more people are believed to be under the debris and efforts are on to get them out.
“Two houses collapsed in Budgam and with the result, 16 members were been buried,” Education Minister Naeem Akhtar informed the JK Legislative Council. “We don’t know whether they are alive or not, but the rescue operation is going on.”
