Hyderabad: At least 16 persons were killed and 30 injured, some of them critically, when the Hubli-Bangalore Hampi Express, travelling at 40 km speed, rammed into a stationery goods train at Penugonda Railway Station in Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh early today.
Union Minister of Railways Mukul Roy had ordered an inquiry into the accident,
Railway sources told that Mr Roy along with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy were rushing to the to the accident spot.
Reports said Mr Roy has announced an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh each to the kin of those killed in the accident which occurred at 0315 hrs this morning.
