Kargil, October 30: The 13th Battalion, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) today conducted a District-Level Mock Exercise on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) emergency scenarios involving a high concentration of chlorine gas (10–18 ppm) at Khri Sultan Cho Sports Stadium, Kargil.
The exercise was organized in collaboration with the District Administration Kargil, DDMA, UT Disaster Response Force (UTDRF), Ladakh Police, and various voluntary organizations. School students also participated in the mock drill.
At the outset, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho, along with other district officers and officials, witnessed the demonstration. Deputy Commander NDRF, Dev Raj, briefed the participants including officers, students, and other stakeholders about the equipment used during the mock exercise, such as the PPDU, jack, angle cutter, hydraulic pump, and lifter.
Earlier, Rifle Man Mohan Singh of the NDRF conducted the announcements and guided the audience through various stages of the mock drill.
Deputy Commander NDRF, Dev Raj, said that the exercise aimed to strengthen coordination among different agencies and to test the district’s response mechanism in the event of a chemical disaster.
