Kargil, April 14: The 134th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was celebrated with great reverence at Tourist Dak Bungalow in Zanskar. The event was organized by Choskul Tsogspa Zanskar in collaboration with Zeal Crew Padum, marking the fourth consecutive year of the cultural tribute.
The celebration was graced by Executive Councilor Er. Phunchok Tashi as chief guest, accompanied by several esteemed guests including Khanpo Padma Thinlas, SDM in-charge Mohd Hassan, the President of ZBA, Youth President, and other prominent members of the community.
Students from various schools across the region actively participated in the program, showcasing their talents through singing, poetry recitation, dance, and speeches—all highlighting the life, values, and contributions of Dr. Ambedkar.
In his keynote address, Executive Councilor Er. Phunchok Tashi emphasized the significance of incorporating Dr. Ambedkar’s teachings and ideals into daily life. He underlined Dr. Ambedkar’s monumental role in shaping modern India, especially in advancing social justice, equality, and education for all.
The event concluded with the presentation of the Ambedkar Encouragement Award and prizes to the winners of various competitions. Attendees collectively pledged to carry forward Babasaheb’s vision of an inclusive and equitable society.
This celebration not only honored the enduring legacy of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar but also served as an inspiring platform for the younger generation to uphold the principles he dedicated his life to.
