Srinagar, Nov 14: Ahead of proposed sit in protest outside UN office at Sonawar Srinagar against the killing of teenager allegedly at the hands of government forces, police on Friday night placed pro-freedom leaders including its Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War and Adv Shahid ul Islam under detention.
Hurriyat (M) Media Advisor, Adv Shahid ul Islam under the house detention speaking to KMW via phone confirmed the detention of its chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
Meanwhile a contingent of J&K Police headed by SHO Maisuma and Batmaloo jointly cordoned off the Bemina of Eng Hilal Ahmad War’s in laws residence and arrested him along with his driver, Basharat Mir. Both have been lodged at Police Station Maisuma,
Earlier condemning the killing of an innocent civilian Tariq Ahmed Butt in Chenigam, Kulgam by the Indian Armed Forces the Mirwaiz said that in less than two weeks we have witnessed the brutal killing of 3 young boys by the Indian forces.
The Mirwaiz said that all means of protest are barred for pro freedom leadership and we are not even allowed to express our outrage at these heinous acts. He said that we will once again attempt to get our voice heard. Hurriyat leaders and activists will assemble tomorrow 15th November 2014, at the UNMOGIP at 2 PM and have a sit in protest to bring into focus these killings and to demand from the international community to take cognizance of these killings and pressurize India to put an end to these barbaric acts which have become the order of the day.
