SRINAGAR, July 01(KMW): A village head was shot dead by unknown gunmen at Wagum village in Pulwama district of south Kashmir late Thursday evening.
A police official said this evening that suspected militants fired upon Mohammad Yousf Bhat (43), village head (Nambardar) of Wagum at around 9:30 when he was on way to a local mosque for taraweeh prayers.
“He was rushed to district hospital Pulwama where doctors declared him brought dead,” he said.
Meanwhile, Army, Special Operation Group of Police and CRPF cordoned off the area and launched the hunt to nab the suspected militants.
