VC, University of Ladakh, Inaugurates 3-Day Youth Entrepreneurship Program

Leh, July 5: In a bid to foster self-reliance and entrepreneurial spirit among Ladakhi youth, Enterprising Ladakh—the flagship initiative of the Department of Higher Education, UT Ladakh—organized a three-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP) at the University of Ladakh, Leh Campus, from July 4 to 6, 2025.

The program is being implemented by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, under the leadership of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal, and Secretary, Higher/Technical Education and Skill Development, Smt. Bhanu Prabha, IAS. It is envisioned by Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII, and Dr. Amit Kumar Dwivedi, Director – Projects (Government), EDII.

Designed to empower youth through innovation and enterprise, the EAP introduced participants to core concepts such as ideation, business planning, and financial literacy. Sessions were conducted by a panel of expert mentors, local entrepreneurs, subject specialists, and EDII faculty members.

On Day 1, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ladakh, Prof. Saket Kushwaha, inaugurated the program. This was followed by sessions on entrepreneurial mindset and local business opportunities, conducted by DDM NABARD Tsering Dorjey, Mr. Abhishake Nandan, Mr. Rigzin Wangdus, and Ms. Fariha Fatima from EDII Ahmedabad.

Day 2 featured interactive discussions on product design, packaging, and sustainability led by Ms. Fariha Fatima, along with a product demonstration session by Mr. Bijendra Singh, Founder, IRHS Pvt. Ltd., and Ms. Nidhi Verma, Founder, Intelismart Energy Solutions.

The Enterprising Ladakh initiative will continue its outreach across all seven districts of the UT, aiming to inspire a new generation of changemakers and job creators.
