UJC calls for Poll Boycott, Urges Hurriyat to launch campaign

Srinagar: Stating that the participation of people in elections has given impetus to India’s international campaign of branding voting for assembly in Kashmir as a referendum to its accession, United Jihad Council (UJC) Chief and Hizb ul Mujahedeen Supremo Syed Salah ud din wednesday said, the time has come when Hurriyat conference and other separatist power houses should unite and reach out to people to convince them for Poll Boycott. He said , the treatment meted to Afzal Guru and the ‘heroic’ funeral to Sarbhjeet Singh, who was recently killed in a fatal attack in Pakistani Jail should be an eye opener for Kashmiri mainstream politicians who have been turning a blind eye towards the ‘ double standards’ of New Delhi viz a viz Kashmir. He also said that the confusion in separatist ranks was creating problems for people to take a que and urged separatist leaders to shun their difference and go to people with a clear mind set.

In a telephonic interview to KNS from Muzafferabad, Syed Salah ud din while giving a poll boycott call for the next year elections said that the boycott had now become inevitable as the participation of people in elections was severely hitting the cause of achieving freedom.
“Govt. of India, its judiciary and its media, all have successfully projected the participation of people in polls as a referendum for JK’s accession to India at international forums, which has definitely taken a toll.” Salah ud din told KNS, adding that the trend should be taken seriously and Separatist leaders in the state must rise to the occasion and start an extensive campaign against it.
“Those who say, polls are non issue should know that India has been projecting it for its benefit, so we must reach out to people to aware them how their participation in polls has been denting the freedom struggle.” Said Hizb Chief.
He ridiculed Senior Congress leader Mani Shanker Ayer’s recent statement in Valley and said, “India has been indulging in same kind of exploitation for last 65 years.”
“These are the people who observe shut down on your call. These are the people who lay down lives on your call. And these are the people who hit the streets for the freedom struggle, and they will respond to your boycott call, if you go to them with clean mind set up.” Salah ud din said while referring to separatist leaders.
The Hizb chief said that the Punchayat members were politicized by mainstream politicians which have exposed them to risk.
UJC Chief further said that Afzal Guru’s hanging was a wakeup call for the mainstream politicians also who he said, were chanting ‘slogans’ of Indian democracy.
“ On one side you have Shaheed Afzal Guru, who was hanged to satisfy the so called collective conscience without taking care of the rights of his and his family and on the other side you have a convicted RAW agent Sarbhjeet to whom you give a heroic funeral, award 1.5 crore rupees which speaks of your double standard.” Said Salah ud din, who added that though the attack on a prisoner was a condemnable act, but said that sarbhjeet was a ‘criminal’ and was awaiting his execution. He said this was a litmus test for mainstream politicians who have been singing songs of Indian ‘democracy’. Salah ud din urged Hurriyat Conference, other separatist leaders, Bar Association to press for return of the kashmiri and Pakistani prisoners to local jails and said that their life was always in danger in Indian jails.
Salah ud din also expressed concern over the infamous drug scam and said, “India was deliberately resorting to certain kinds of tactics that could strengthen its occupation on Jammu and Kashmir.”
“Indian Forces have occupied 28 lakh kanals of land, and are now after tourist destinations, orchards and every other resource kashmiris have. They build railway lines, roads to facilitate military travel.” Salah ud din told KNS.
He cautioned that New Delhi has now resorted to cultural aggression to disintegrate the social fabric of Jammu and Kashmir and also dilute its Islamic identity.
“They deliberately supply spurious drugs, adultered food items to Kashmir and this all is being done under a well thought conspiracy.” Claimed Hizb Chief.
He also said that the ongoing movement was not a property of any individual or a party but was the custodian of lakhs of people who laid down their lives, the women who lost their honour and of those who lost everything, and said the movement belonged to every single kashmiri who has the right to ask where the people leading the movement were going wrong.
“This movement is being fought at three levels, political, diplomatic and Military. If any of the three deviates from the path, the others have the right to rectify. If we in the jihadi front do a mistake, the political set up of the movement is welcome to identify it and correct us. Similarly, if we find a loop hole in other systems, we will and must identify it and request for a correction.” Salah ud din told.
