Srinagar, April 26: People’s Political Party (PPP) Chairman and senior leader All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Engineer Hilal Ahmad War said unresolved Kashmir dispute is a serious threat to international peace and security and it is incumbent upon the international fraternity to intervene and create an atmosphere for a permanent resolution of this festering crisis. Mr. War said that US has a great role to play, being the sole super power.
“Kashmir issue is a potential nuclear threat that can destroy the entire subcontinent and the catastrophic effects will be felt world over for a long, long time to come,” said Mr. War.
“Therefore, to avoid any likelihood of war between India and Pakistan, all responsible and influential countries of the world in general and United States of America in particular, have a role to play as ambassadors of peace and resolution in order to defuse the tension between India and Pakistan. As a facilitator, US should open all diplomatic channels to find peaceful ways to resolve Kashmir once for all.”
Mr. War alluded to 2016 statement of US President, Donald Trump when he said that it would be an honor for him to play a role as a third party to resolve Kashmir and all other pending issues between the two neighbouring nuclear powers.
Keeping in view the war like situation in the Indo-Pak subcontinent, it is obligatory for US to live up to Mr. Donald Trump’s 2016 and play a role in resolving the Kashmir crisis and, thereby, avert a potential nuclear catastrophe.
