Srinagar, Feb 25 (KMW): A high level delegation in the shape of Forum for Protection against Swine Flu (FPASF) called on the Divisional Kashmir Mr. Rohit Kansal to discuss the future strategies to overcome the virus H1N1, which has so far claimed more than 10 precious lives since its outbreak in the Valley.
The delegation compromised of the heads of all its constituent members, including JK Youth Council, Jammu and Kashmir Young Journalist Association, Doctors Association Kashmir, Kashmir Traders & Manufacturers Federation, Kashmir Civil Society and others.
During the meeting, the delegation discussed burning issues related to Swine Flu and urged that more awareness about the spread and control of the virus be generated among the masses via media including social media. The delegation urged the Div Com to maintain appropriate supply of vaccines and medicines at all the main hospitals including district and sub-district hospitals of the Valley.
Mr. Ajaz Ahmad War President Jammu and Kashmir Young Journalist Association assured full support to Divisional Kashmir in raising the awareness about swine flu from journalistic community as the are dedicated part o FPASF.
The convener of the forum Muhmmad Tauseef (President JK Youth Council) maintained that sample collection centers be setup at district and sub-district levels to avoid overburdening of SKIMS and also demanded Creation of separate wards at all main hospitals including District Hospitals with ventilator facilities on priority bases to deal with the problem and the surgical ICU’s be relieved of the burden of dealing with these issues.
Deliberating over the issue Mr. Shaqeel Qalandar from the civil society discussed the crisis threadbare with the Div. Com and urged the Div. Com to diffuse the panic among the masses by generating awareness among them.
The forum also stressed that schools, colleges and universities be closed till the government didn’t control the spread of the deadly flu for the reason that they remained at a higher risk of catching the swine flu. Discussing the Issue Dr. Suhail (Gen. Sec DAK) insisted that the vaccination of hospital janitors, doctors, paramedics, children, elderly, pregnant women and sick people be prioritized and done as early as possible.
The delegation urged the Div Com that the duties of Dr. Nisar (President DAK) also be availed immediately for the effective counter of swine flu spread as he happened to be one of the prominent experts of H1N1 in the valley. It is pertinent to mention that the initiative of the forum has been supported by Private Schools United Front, KUMSA, Bar association, Palzun trust and various student associations across the Valley.
