Srinagar: Assuring all support for the growth and development of sports, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said sports nurture body and brain of youth and inculcate discipline, sportsmanship and team spirit in the sports persons.
The Chief Minister said his government is giving due attention to the growth and development of sports at all levels in the state.
Various sports facilities including development of play grounds and stadia in all districts of the state, he said.
Underlining the need for holding sports competitions and tournaments in various categories and encouraging boys and girls to participate in sports from their young age, the Chief Minister said that this would help to develop sports temperament in youth and make the state one of the best sports states in the country.
The Chief Minister inaugurated remodelled S-e-K sports stadium at Bandipora which was completed at a cost of over Rs 1.50 crore today.
The inauguration of the stadium followed by a football match between Power Development Corporation (PDC) football team and Bandipora 11. The PDC football team won the match by defeating Bandipora 11 by 2 goals to nil.
The Chief Minister gave away trophies to the winners and runners and also individual prizes to the players. (KMW News)
