Srinagar: The Jammu & Kashmir police is threatening the family of recently released Hurriyat leader Shakeel Ahmad Bhat. Despite being released by the honorable court he and his family is being continuously harassed by the police authorities, according to his family members. The family claims that the Police Officials especially the ones from police station Maharaj Gunj are threatening them with dire consequences in case they don’t handover Shakeel to them. Despite serving for years together in jail and being slapped with record number of 10 public safety acts (consecutively since 2008) the peace of his family continues to be threatened by the police.
Pertinently Described as the ‘Islamic Rage Boy’ by Wikipedia, Shakeel Bhat is an emotional and just Kashmiri who feels the pain of his brethren and doesn’t scare away to protest and come out against the odds and evils encountered by the fellow Kashmiris in the highest of his tenor and courage. The atrocities done on his family converted Shakeel into the present avatar of a ‘Rage Boy’ lamented his family whilst talking to Kashmir Media Watch Team.
A family member of Shakeel said “We do not understand under which law the police is asking us to handover Shakeel to them despite his PSA being quashed by honorable court. They are threatening us of dire consequences if we do not hand him over to them.â€
The family members state that the police is not respecting the law of land and forcing them to handover Shakeel despite released in open court. (KMW NEWS)
