Rs 1.52 lakh fine imposed for violating various provisions of Food Safety & Standards Act

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 30: The Court of Adjudicating Officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar imposed a fine of Rs152000 on 7 food business operators for violating various provisions of Food Safety & Standards Act. They were selling /manufacturing sub-standard food articles and processing food items under unhygienic conditions.
Meanwhile a team of Food Safety Officers, headed by Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety Srinagar, inspected various restaurants in Lal Chowk and Dalgate areas. During inspection it was found that in some restaurants synthetic food colours were being used in preparations.
More than one quintal of such food preparations were destroyed on spot and owners of the said restaurants were warned to desist from such malpractices else strict action under Food Safety & Standards Act shall be taken.
