Leh, Oct 10: A refresher training on wheat flour fortification was conducted by KHPT-GAIN on October 9, 2025 at Rajat Flour Mill, Phyang (Leh District), with the support of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Ladakh.
The training was conducted for Rajat Flour Mill and Kangri Flour Mill, and was graced by the presence of Mr. Tamchos Gurmeet, Assistant Commissioner, and Mr. Abdul Majeed, Food Safety Officer (FSO), Ms. Diskit, from Food Analyst Drugs and food control, Leh.
The technical session was facilitated by Mr. Suresh Sakhare (CFTRI) and Ms. Mihika Wakhloo (KHPT), focusing on fortification techniques, premix dosage, and quality assurance measures.
The training highlighted the critical role of wheat flour fortification in addressing widespread micronutrient deficiencies, particularly iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12, which are essential for improving public health.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion among all stakeholders to strengthen efforts towards improving the nutritional quality of wheat flour and ensuring better health outcomes for consumers under the Public Distribution System (PDS) in Ladakh.
