PUC reviews functioning of J&K Bank

JAMMU: A meeting of Committee on Public Undertakings (PUC) of Legislative Assembly was held under the Chairmanship of MLA Advocate Abdul Haq here today.

The Committee members discussed audit para of non-recovery of debit shown by CAG Audit Report 2006-07 pertaining to Finance Department (Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited) besides reviewed working of the bank.
The Committee also discussed audit paras of Himachal Pardesh Infrastructure Development Board and M/S Divya Foods Private Limited, Bombay during the meeting.
The members, Mr. M. Y. Taing, Mr. Abdul Majid Wani, Mr. Ashok Kumar, Mr. Irfan Ahmad Shah, Choudhry Zulfkar Ali, Mr. Feroz Ahmad Khan, Mr. Jugal Kishore and Mr. Charanjit Singh was not satisfied with the reply of audit paras and directed the concerned bank authorities to come up with relevant records about the subject, besides they also directed for personal presence of Chairman J&K Bank during next meeting for clarifying the doubts so that the audit paras would be dropped.
The members also directed Bank Management to furnish detailed report of non-performing assets (NPA) of the Bank outside the State for its scrutiny in next meeting.
Principal Accountant General, J&K AGs Office, Mr Venkatish Mohan, Principal Secretary Finance Mr Mohammad Iqbal Khanday, Director General Accounts & Treasuries Mr Wali Mohammad Bhat, President Government Business J&K Bank Mr Abdul Rouf, President Government Business J&K, Zonal Head Office Jammu Mr O. P. Sharma and other senior officers of Finance, J&K Bank Ltd. besides officers of Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.(KMW News)
