Jammu, (KMW News): Police today successfully foiled the march of Peoples Democratic Party towards Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s residence here.
Led by senior leaders, PDP activists this morning took out an anti-corruption rally amid slogans against the Chief Minister and tried to proceed towards his residence.
On reaching the Tehsil road, the protesting PDP leaders were stopped by the heavy deployment of police but they forcibly tried to march.
“Police restricted their movement and also resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse them,’’ an eye witness said.
The PDP activists later staged protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s officer and shouted slogans.
“We were peacefully protesting against the corruption and mis-governance in the state but police stopped us to march towards CM’s residence,’’ the PDP spokesman said.
He added that the party today lodged statewide protests against issues like corruption, mis-governance and unemployment.
