New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today sought to overhaul his team ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls giving due weightage to youth and experience, an exercise that saw Salman Khurshid, Pawan Kumar Bansal and Ashwani Kumar getting important portfolios of External Affairs, Railways and Law and Justice, respectively, and some young turks elevated and fresh faces inducted.

Today’s reshuffle involved induction/elevation of a total of 22 ministers.
Saying it was probably the last reshuffle of his ministry before the elections, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, however, ruled out early LS polls. He said the road ahead was full of challeges and justified the changes in his team, saying he has tried to balance it with vigour of youth and wisdom of experience and age.
The exercise was preceded by resignation of ministers Ambika Soni, Mukul Wasnik, S M Krishna, Subodh Kant Sahay, Mahadeo Singh Khandela and Vincent Pala, who the Prime Minister said would work to strengthen the party.
