“PDP during its regime has carved out a path of equitable and balanced development in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh,” he said and reminded that the party brought complete transparency and accountability in the government as well as in the administration.

Mr Mufti said, “Making Jammu and Kashmir an island of peace is my dream and the party is working with policies and ideologies within the people.” He, however, also lambasted the present National Conference-led coalition government in the state and said, “Instead of implementing decisions taken in the meetings of the District Development Boards (DDBs), funds are being distributed in arbitrary manner which is a glaring example of injustice with the areas represented by the members of opposition parties.” Mr Mufti added that there was a pressing need for strengthening the institutions of State Accountability Commission (SAC) and vigilance organisation.

“SAC should have its own independent investigation wing so that corruption cases can be investigated independent of government interference,” he demanded.
