PDP activist shot dead in Kreeri

Srinagar: Unidentified gunmen killed a People Democratic Party (PDP) activist in Kreeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.
Quoting eyewitnesses, correspondent from north Kashmir said that unknown gunmen barged into the shop of Haji Nazir Ahmad Lone, 45, son of Mohammad Abdullah of Thindma and fired two bullets at him from point blank range.
Lone, a fruit forwarding agent and a PDP activist was critically injured. He was removed to the nearby medical health centre (MHC) and later referred to SKIMS, soura for specialized treatment. The gunmen, reports said fled from the spot after carrying the attack.
Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kreeri, Dr Khurshid told  that Lone was hit by bullets at chin and chest.
A police spokesman here said Lone later succumbed to his injuries while a case has been registered in this regard.
Meanwhile, Police and 29 Rastriya Rifles cordoned the area to nab the culprits. When reports last came in, no arrests were made in this connection.
