Srinagar 25 July (KMW): Despite repeated requests from the inhabitants of the several parts of Srinagar city to dewater the lanes and Courtyards of the residential houses in Bota Kadal Lal Bazar and Muslimabad Lane 3, Tangpora Byepass the concerned officials ironically are paying deaf ears risking the lives and property of the people.
Speaking to KMW the residents of old Post Office Lane Bota Kadal Lal Bazaar said that they also visited DC Office Srinagar, but to their surprise all the officials paid deaf ears to their SOS Calls . The locals are demanding for High speed water pumps as the water has entered their homes and has resulted in the development of cracks to various houses.
“I personally tried to call MLA Zadibal over phone, but unfortunately he was out of reach. I request to DC Srinagar and MLA Zadibal to intervene and dispatch the pumps on first priority to this place else people are left with no option but to come on roads and protest for failure of reach of administrational help†said a resident Bota Kadal, Er. Idrees ul haq, social worker.
Pertinently, a house was collapsed due to water logging in the same area due to same inordinate delay of District administration for sending high speed dewatering pumps.
“Lanes and by-lanes in our area are inundated after moderate rainfall and nobody from the officials are taking the issue seriously and have visited our locality so that we could come out from the problem,†said a local resident Mir Irfan of Muslimabad, lane No 3, Tangpora Bemina area while speaking to KMW News.
“From the last 10 years the government has only made fake promises to built the drain but all went in vain, now we have pinned hope on the state governor Mr. N N Vohra to take up the issue with the concerned authorities at the earliest,†added Irfan.
Both the residents of the said areas alleged that the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) is doing nothing to drain out the water from the roads on the watered roads as it causes grave inconvenience to commuters. They appealed Municipal Commissioner Mr. Tufail Matoo to look into the matter as early as possible. (KMW)
