Pakistan’s President to attend conference in Dushanbe

Islamabad: President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari will attend the Fifth Regional Economic Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA V) in Tajikistan on March 26-27, Presidential spokesman says.

Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai will also attend the conference besides representatives of 40 countries at the level of foreign ministers and senior representatives of 34 international organizations have been invited to attend RECCA V.

The spokesman said that President Zardari will also hold bilateral meeting with world leaders on the sidelines of the conference.

The Fifth Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan is expected to be one more major event in the process of reconstructing Afghanistan and an effective regional integration and coordination of regional projects.

The Dushanbe conference will consider various proposals and projects aimed at boosting regional cooperation with participation of Afghanistan. High-ranking delegations from about 80 countries, as well as international and regional organizations are expected to attend the Dushanbe conference.

A business forum and a symposium of researchers and experts will be held on sidelines of RECCA V in Dushanbe.

RECCA is a forum dedicated to advance Afghan stabilization and South and Central Asian regional economic integration.
