Srinagar: One-way traffic resumed on the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu National Highway this afternoon after remaining suspended since Friday evening following heavy snowfall and slippery road conditions.
Roads leading to hundreds of far-flung and remote areas, particularly those near the Line of Control (LoC) remained closed due to heavy snowfall last evening.
A traffic police official told that all passengers, stranded since Saturday at Jammu, were allowed to proceed towards Srinagar this afternoon after all stranded vehicles were cleared.
The landslides and snow avalanches at different places between Banihal and Ramban have been also removed and road has also become safe for journey.
However, he said, no heavy vehicle, including those carrying essentials for Kashmir valley, were allowed.
Decision to allow movemenet of traffic tomorrow will be taken only after receiving reports from the officials posted on the highway, he said.
