Omar ready to present himself before Judicial inquiry

Srinagar: Announcing to present himself before the judicial inquiry into the death case of a National Conference (NC) activist, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah denied involvement of any of his party leader.
”An unfounded campaign has been launched by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and media against him, his father and Union Minister Farooq Abdullah and a party colleague,” he told a news conference at the lawns of Legislative Assembly after the house was adjourned by the speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone till tomorrow.
He threatened to file a defamation case against PDP legislative party leader Mehbooba Mufti for alleging that he was involved in the killing of an NC activist.
He said he had ordered a judicial inquiry into the death of Syed Mohammad Yousuf Shah.
“We have requested the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court to appoint a sitting judge to conduct inquiry into the circumstance which led to the death of Shah,” the Chief Minister said.
“Let Chief Justice return from Chennai and appoint a judge,” he said adding I will present myself before the inquiry commission and answer questions asked by the judge.” Mr Abdullah said he will not speak on the subject till the final report of the judicial inquiry was prepared.
“I am today breaking my silence because I was being accused now that I am guilty and have nothing to say, he said adding I had decided not to speak till the inquiry in completed,” he said.
Indirectly referring to Shopian incident where two women died in 2009, Mr Abdullah said,” I was accused of influencing the inquiry.
I spoke on the basis of preliminary reports about that case which was later used by the opposition that I prejudiced inquiry,” he said.
He said,” it was because of this reason I was silent so far which was being taken otherwise by the opposition PDP and media.”
