NH-301 Work Reviewed Ahead of Dalai Lama’s Visit to Zanskar

Zanskar, June 28: In preparation for the upcoming visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Zanskar, Executive Councillor Er. Phunchok Tashi convened a review meeting today at the Tourist Dak Bungalow in Padum to assess the progress of ongoing roadwork along NH-301, particularly around the main market area.

The meeting was attended by project engineers, the site contractor, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (in-charge) Zanskar, Sh. Mohd. Hassan.

During the review, the Executive Councillor raised concerns over the slow pace of work and the quality of construction in the main market zone. Following the meeting, an on-ground inspection was carried out in the area.

Strict instructions were issued to the site manager, engineers, and contractor to complete all pending work in the main market area within 10 days, keeping in view the significance of the upcoming visit. Additionally, officials were directed to ensure the removal of all debris from the area by or before July 10, 2025.
