Srinagar: Ruling National Conference on Tuesday said that PDP patron and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is best person in the state to know who are buried in unmarked mass graves in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is the best person in the state who has the knowledge about these unknown graves. When Mufti was home minister, he along with then State Governor Jag Mohan gave full orders to kill and disappear people,” National Conference spokesman said in a statement here. “It was the bold leadership of Dr Farooq Abdullah who probed these cases and put behind bars those officers involved in these cases,” the spokesman added.
“Mufti Mohammad Sayeed gave promotions and rewards to those officers who acted to his orders and disappeared people,” the spokesman said, adding, “Mehbooba Mufti must go through the history of the state and particularly the notorious role of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, when he was home minister and then raise finger against the chief minister Omar Abdullah, who always believe in action what he says to the people.”
Terming “negative propaganda” against chief minister, a “frustration” of PDP leadership, the National Conference said Omar Abdullah was committed to general amnesty to youths involved in stone pelting. “Entire Kashmir valley and particularly parents of the youths, whose children were free by government, are witness to the fact that Omar Abdullah announced the amnesty and youths were released immediately,” the spokesman said.
“Acting on the amnesty announced by chief minister on Eid, thousands of the youths have been freed. Chief Minister was not in a favour that the education of the youths would suffer. The PDP leadership must adopt a realistic approach, rather than involved in baseless allegations against chief minister,” the spokesman added.
The party also ridiculed PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed by saying that National Conference leadership has weakened the democratic institutions in the state.
“It is Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who played an important role to disband elected governments in the state and become a major conspirator with the BJP in weakening the democratic institutions here. It was National Conference who conducted free and transparent Panchayat elections after three decades in the state,” he said.
